REMONDIS SAVA is a highly sought-after partner wherever there is a need for the safe and compliant recovery of hazardous waste – and not only in Germany but right across the world: from Moldova, to Lithuania and Romania, to Belarus. Moreover, we played an important role in recovering and treating pesticides in Nepal. We transport treatment facilities to the various locations so that some of the hazardous substances can be processed in situ; the remaining waste is packed in accordance with international standards and transported to REMONDIS SAVA's plant in Germany by road, rail and/or sea.
Safely removing risks: By professionally incinerating hazardous waste, we eliminate potential sources of danger that might otherwise harm people and the environment
Being a subsidiary of REMONDIS Industrie Service, REMONDIS SAVA takes part in global tenders and is regularly awarded contracts to carry out major projects.
The Ministry of Nature and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus commissioned us with the task of recovering 2,000 tonnes of pesticides in Slonim. The work, which began in September 2011, is being carried out as part of a World Bank project to recover and process bioactive substances.
On behalf of GIZ, REMONDIS SAVA recovered 70 tonnes of pesticides and 5 tonnes of methyl bromide gas in Nepal at the end of 2011. A special waste treatment facility was transported to Kathmandu so that the poisonous gas could be chemically destroyed on site.
Since May 2011, we have been working on a project to recover around 107 tonnes of laboratory chemicals from more than 1,000 schools located close to Moldova's capital, Chisinau. This poisonous material is being transported to Germany and neutralised at the hazardous waste incineration plant in Brunsbüttel.
In 2008–2009, on behalf of the Lithuanian authorities responsible for managing environmental projects (APVA), we cleaned up twelve waste landfills which had been used for burying or incinerating pesticides. The waste materials were partly treated using environmentally friendly processes at REMONDIS SAVA in Germany.
From 2005 to 2006, REMONDIS SAVA completed a large-scale EU project in Romania to eradicate past environmental "sins": a total of approx. 2,500 tonnes of pesticides were recovered from this Eastern European country.
